If you are considering taking creatine supplements as part of a new workout routine, or general fitness regimen and are concerned about potential creatine problems that may occur due to continued ingestion allow me the opportunity to help calm your fears.
Creatine was first introduced to the general public in 1993, and since its commercial inception, has steadily grown in popularity to become one of the most popular bodybuilding supplements available.
Countless studies have proven its effectiveness, one such study done by the United States Department of Agriculture positively show that creatine supplementation enhances work performance during cycling, rowing and strength testing.
As for athletic contests, the results have been mixed with no clear benefit of creatine supplementation on performance.Of course you may also consider too that some studies have suggested creatine problems wherein consistent ingestion of creatine increases the growth rate of tumor cells.
Although certain athletes have used creatine as a nutritional supplement since the 1960s, no studies have been done concerning use of creatine for longer than a year.
Now take this with a grain of salt, you would have had to already had a tumor or tumor cells to have the growth increase, and isn’t that exactly what creatine is supposed to do to increase the size of, or growth of muscle?
So why wouldn’t it also increase the size of tumor cells.
If you are adhering to the recommend dosages while consuming Creatine supplementation you will not likely have any creatine problems or adverse side effects beyond occasional dehydration and this is because of creatine causes increased muscular water uptake from the rest of the body.
In fact, a recent study an (Sept. 2000) administered by a Professor Jacques R. Poortmans of the Higher Institute of Physical Education and Readaptation, Free University of Brussels, Bruxelles, Belgium, states that inncrease in muscle mass and therefore body mass because of increased muscle hydration is the most widely accepted side effect of creatine supplementation.
These findings are not just a Western development as well, studies have been done in Europe that suggest similar discoveries such as a recent study done by the European Food Safety Authorities (EFSA), wherein they have concluded that the safety and bioavailability of the requested source of creatine, creatine monohydrate in foods for particular nutritional uses, is not a matter of concern provided that there is adequate control of the purity of this source of creatine (minimum 99.95%), provided high purity creatine monohydrate is used in foods for particular nutritional uses, the Panel considers that the consumption of doses of up to 3g/day of supplemental creatine, similar to the daily turnover rate of creatine, is unlikely to pose any creatine problems or health risks.
Of course good common sense really goes a long ways to maintaining your health, and it would serve you well to keep a good balance and not overdo your ingestion of creatine, because too much of even a good thing can cause some discomfort.
Some regular, everyday ordinary people have complained about stomach cramps, nausea, and an occasional headache, and this was primarily due to being out of shape and not following the recommended dosages.
Whether you believe the studies that have been done or not you need only go into your local gym and ask any weight lifter id he or she uses creatine of some sort and if they have experienced any type of creatine problem and nine times out of ten you will learn that no adverse side effect have been experienced.
It all comes down to personal preference though, and it is a decision that you are going to have to make. But take it from someone who has done the research and has consumed a fair share of creatine, you are likely to really enjoy the positive side effects of creatine and completely put out of your head any possible creatine problems that are not likely to occur.
You will be too busy admiring your tightly sculpted muscles to really care about any of the really minor side effect that you may have experienced. Of course with anything else in the world there is always differing views on the subject and either way, good luck to you in your quest for a more healthier you.
