Should You Use A Protein Supplement?

When people are looking to get fit, usually around the first of the year as they want to fulfill their New Year’s resolution, they head to the nutrition store to stock up on supplements.
It’s a waste to stock up on supplements, however, if you aren’t going to work out enough to actually require them. Still, people flock to the nutrition store and they get vitamins, protein supplements, they may get Nitrous Oxide supplements and even natural testosterone boosters if they are men.
However, many expect these supplements to transform their bodies overnight. It doesn’t work way. You don’t need supplements in order to be fit. You need to work out. If you’re going to buy supplements, you could use a protein supplement and a multivitamin. Anything more than that is overkill.
Protein Supplement
You may know that protein builds muscle but just taking a protein supplement will not build muscle. Only exercise will build muscle; protein is just what your body uses to build that muscle. It works like this. When you eat food, that food is made up of macronutrients.
You should know about the three macronutrients are which are protein, fat, and carbohydrates. Fat and carbs are what your body uses for energy.
Your body also uses protein for energy but protein is what your body uses to repair and build your muscles. Without adequate protein, your body cannot build muscle and you won’t be getting the results you want.
If you eat too much protein, however, and you don’t break your muscles down through exercise and weight training, that excess protein will just be converted to fat. So, you should use only the protein supplements if you do the enough work out to necessitate it.
How Much Protein Supplement To Use
Experts say you should use protein supplements only as that; supplements. That means you should try to get most of your protein from real food sources such as meat, eggs, fish, etc.
They also say that a health person who weight trains should use protein supplements along with real food to help them get enough protein to equal one gram of protein per pound of body weight.
If you work out hard and you’re looking to get fit and build muscle, you could definitely benefit from a good protein supplement. Just make sure you do your research to determine which is the best protein supplement so that you’re not filling your body with a bunch of artificial junk which unfortunately is a practice that’s rampant in the supplement industry.

Interesting article. Too often I personally see beginners consuming vast amounts of protein under the illusion that all of it will be broken down and converted into muscle. This simply isnt the case. For the light exerciser protein supplementation may not even be necessary.
